Nevart Galileas - flute

A native of Greece, Nevart-Veron Galileas studied flute at the City Conservatory of Thessaloniki and was awarded 1st Prize for her outstanding musical abilities.

She is a graduate of the Oberlin Conservatory where she studied on full schollarship with the famous flutist Michel Debost, receiving her Bachelor of Music degree in 2001. She continued on full scholarship at Indiana University-Bloomington where she studied with Kathryn Lukas receiving her Master of Music degree in 2004. In 2006 she received her Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook where she studied with Carol Wincenc.

Her debut performance at the Dimitria International Festival in 1999 received excellent reviews which emphasized «her musicality, lyricism and tone quality». Since then she has performed worldwide, having given solo and chamber music recitals in several countries such as Greece, Cyprus, Romania, Japan and USA. She has performed and given master classes at numerous international music festivals such as the Dimitria Festival (1999, 2003, 2007, 2010), Odysseia Symposium (2010), Nafplion Festival (2009), Rhodes Festival (2009) and the Summer Music Academy in Athitos (2007, 2008).

Nevart has appeared as soloist with the State Orchestra of Thessaloniki (Greece), the City Orchestra of Thessaloniki (Greece), the Brasov Symphony Orchestra (Romania), the Ploesti Philharmonic Orchestra (Romania), the Symphony of the Americas (Florida, USA) and the Orchestra Citta di Grosetto (Italy). She has also appeared as guest artist with the Cadence Ensemble (Armenia) and the NeoPhonia New Music Ensemble (Atlanta, USA). Throughout her career she has collaborated with internationally distinguished musicians such as: Thomas Robertello, Michael Palmer, James Brooks-Bruzzese, Christos Galileas, Ilarion Ionescu Galati, Yiannis Vakarelis, Maria Asteriadou, Brandt Fredriksen, Byron Fidetzis, Myron Michailidis and Iakovos Kolanian. Her successful collaboration with the acclaimed quitarist Iakovos Kolanian has leaded to the recording of works of the flute and quitar repertoire which will be released shortly.The CD will iclude works by Mauro Giuliani, Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco, Francis Kleynjans, Loris Chobanian, Ravi Shankar, Joaquin Rodrigo, Enrique Granados and Jacques Ibert.

Since 2006 she is the Chair of the Woodwind Department at the New Conservatory of Thessaloniki.
