Todor Popstoyanov - french horn

Bulgarian born Todor Popstoyanov is a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, USA where he studied with Jerome Ashby, Principal horn of the New York Philharmonic. Mr. Popstoyanov is currently working at Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia in Valencia, Spain, a position he was offered by Maestro Lorin Maazel at the age of 21. He has also collaborated with The Philadelphia Chamber Orchestra, New World Symphony, Komische Oper Berlin, Barcelona Symphony among others under conductors such as Lorin Maazel, Zubin Eschenbach, Valery Gergiev, Christoph Dohnanyi and Simon Rattle. As a vivid solo and chamber musician, Mr. Popsoyanov performs extensively in North America, Europe and Asia.

He is also the winner of the Yamaha Young Artists Competition, Bramhall Concerto Competition, Stara Zagora Young Artist Competition, High and Low Horn Competitions at the International Horn Society Symposium and the holder of the Mericos Foundation Fellowship as well as the Barry Tuckwell and Jon Howkins Memorial Scholarships.
