ECCE was founded in 2005 with the mission of supporting the creation and performance of contemporary music through concerts, symposia, and outreach events. ECCE's goal is to help revitalize the connection between contemporary music and diverse communities, and to promote new forms of engagement with modern music.

Since its creation, ECCE has committed itself to the most adventuresome programming with special emphasis on contemporary European repertoire not often heard in the states. ECCE performers have worked closely with composers such as Fabien Levy, Louis Karchin, Helmut Lachenmann, George Tsontakis and David Rakowski in realizing powerful interpretations of their music.

ECCE’s annual residency at the Etchings Festival in Auvillar France has provided a unique platform for the ensemble to share the best of contemporary American repertoire with European audiences.

Other residencies at UNLV, Virginia Commonwealth University and The University of Campinas at Sao Paulo, Brazil, have also given ECCE the opportunity to provide committed interpretations of today’s most advanced repertoire. ECCE’s regular concert season has featured almost all of the great composers of our time, including Grisey, Furrer, Lachanmann, Levi, Karchin, Rakowski, Globokar, Davidovsky, Macdonald, Feuting, Kreppein, Hurel, Xenakis and many more.

In addition to its regular concert season and annual residencies, ECCE offers a wide range of community outreach events with the mission of inspiring audiences unfamiliar with contemporary music, encouraging young musicians to pursue their artistic interests, and simply communicating the joy of artistic creation.
