ECCE announces 2011-12 season!
Dear Friends,
We're excited to announce ECCE's 2011-12 season! Our season opens with guest Matthias Pintscher joining us at Harvard's Radcliffe Institute for ECCE's first CD release!
Matthias will conduct a selection from ECCE's new album Stillness and Change, which features the work of John Aylward, and he'll give a talk on his two spheres of composing and conducting. We'll also perform Pintscher's Study II for Treatise on the Veil.
In November, save the date for our concert of French and American contemporary music featuring special guest John McDonald. We'll pair an Etchings Festival 2011 commission by Per Bloland with works by Philippe Hurel and Gerard Grisey. This concert also features special tributes to Milton Babbitt, including a performance of his not-often-heard Whirled Series.
In March, we experiment with an exciting mix of electric guitar, saxophone, percussion and piano: the instrumentation for both Chaya Czernowin's Drift and Philippe Hurel's Localized Corrosions. This concert also features US premieres by Dominique Schafer and Schuyler Tsuda. Each event offers live interaction and exposure to some of today's luminaries in contemporary music. Don't miss out on these events, and be a part of our summer festival, our annual call for scores, or our spring composers workshop at the Goethe Institute Boston.
In April, ECCE will present a salon-style concert of electroacoustic music at the Goethe Institut-Boston. This concert programed by Roth Michaels feature works for instruments and live electronics with a focus on improvisation.
