Alicia Bennett - clarinet

Clarinetist Alicia Bennett has been living in New York in 2001.  And although she can't claim native status to any one town, her adopted home is Albuquerque, New Mexico and she returns there often.

Alicia currently plays with New York City-based Orchestra Camerata Notturna (with whom she'll be a featured soloist in May of 2011), and with the clarinet quartet Utopia Winds.  Notable past engagements:  Artist Residency at the Banff Center for Performing Arts; Merkin Hall performance with the Stony Brook Contemporary Chamber Players; Bang-On-A-Can 20th Anniversary Concert with Tactus Ensemble.

Alicia currently teaches at the 92nd Street Y School of Music and the Bloomingdale School of Music in New York City.  She has previously taught for Stony Brook University's Pre-College Music Program, Suffolk Community College, and Hummingbird Music Camp in Jemez Springs, New Mexico.  Alicia has given masterclasses on Long Island through the Brookhaven Arts Council, and at the University of Idaho, Caldwell, as part of a concert tour series.   She received her undergraduate degree from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, and her M.M. and D.M.A. degrees in clarinet performance from Stony Brook University.
