Tania Tachkova - piano

Praised by critics for her "white-hot performances," pianist Tania Tachkova has appeared as a soloist and chamber musicians in numerous venues including the 92nd Street Y (New York), Harris Hall (Aspen), Wiener Saal at Mozarteum (Salzburg), and the Centro de Bellas Artes (San Juan). She has collaborated with such musicians as cellist Colin Carr, violinist Martin Chalifour, and pianist Ivo Kaltchev. Her performances have been broadcast on WQXR (New York) and Bulgarian National Television, among others. Additionally, Ms.Tachkova's newly released CD "Song to My Love" with bassoonist Maria Wildhaber (MSR Classics Records) has been praised by critics as a "fantastic release" and "very impressive and highly recommended."
An advocate of contemporary music and an active chamber musician, Ms. Tachkova was a member of the acclaimed Contemporary Chamber Players at Stony Brook University. Her wide repertoire of contemporary music includes works from solo piano to large ensemble works. Some of her important past performances include Morton Feldman's monumental Triadic Memories, Steve Reich's Music for 18 Musicians, Berio's Linea, Gunther Schullers Grand Concerto for Percussion and Keyboards, and Schnittke's Piano Quintet. Highlights of the 2010-2011 season include premieres of trios by composers Martin Blessinger and John Glover, written specifically for the trio.
Ms. Tachkova holds a Doctorate of Musical Arts from Stony Brook University. Currently she is on the piano and chamber music faculty of the 92nd Street Y School of Music as well as Bloomingdale School of Music in NYC.
